Finally, I have found myself with the perfect area of javascript to not only refresh but to take full advantage of right away!
Good timing at last?
It’s taken some time, but over the weekend I came to realise that DOM manipulation was the area for me to focus on.
The prototype I’m working on can make use of that, which will let me add in some nice interactivity to mimic the dynamic response that I’d hope to get from a live system – without having to have a live system in place.
This is the first time in a while that I’ve been able to find a course that covers a particular topic and have the opportunity to apply it in a different context on one of my live projects.
Joining the dots
This is something that I’m always keen to do – to join the dots and improve my understanding of things.
What I also like to do is to join some other dots and find ways to put my learning to good use – ‘use it or lose it’ rings too true for me! If I don’t apply new skills, they quickly fade.
It’s a nice feeling to have such alignment in work and my personal studies, but it doesn’t always happen so I’m keen to seize the opportunity for now.
I’m also eager to keep finding other ways to apply the learnings taken from some of the courses on my to-do list.
Practice to learn
This is literally the reason I started writing this blog – to write about what I was learning but to hopefully find ways to use that info and to create some interesting projects along the way.
I’d also like to be able to sew the seeds of ideas like this with others – I can’t be the only one that struggles to come up with unique ways to practice these skills and to keep up the motivation for doing so, can I?
